English Activities for the Summer

Summer is here and it's time to enjoy the warm weather! But at the same time we need to stay in touch with English so our learning gets better and better.

As an English Language Teacher, I am always excited to help my students and their parents stay connected with the language during their summer break. That's why I have created a set of fun and engaging summer activities that are available for free download. These activities are designed to help learners of all levels practice their English skills while having fun in the sun.

1. Summer bucket

This fun bright summer bucket worksheet works for all levels and especially with little kids. It's a fantastic way to write down all ideas and wishes for this summer and tick them as they come true. It's also a great way to get away from screens. :) Download it for free and check out my example to get some ideas before you and your child come up with yours.

2. Summer picture prompt writing

In this fun little worksheet book students can practice their writing. It's suitable for students in Junior A and B, which means beginners. There are five pictures of children doing a summer activity. There is a big space for children to write what they see. It's short, easy and good for their writing practice. Enjoy!

3. Summer gratitude

This amazing gratitude worksheet can make your heart melt. I always get emotional when my students mention how thankful they are for their parents, grandparents, siblings and even sometimes for their teacher as well. It's a good writing practice but also good for the soul. It's suitable for primary and preliminary students, which means A1-A2, not beginners but not advanced either. If you like this handout or all of them register in my email list and don't miss any other free resources I create for my students.

4. Summer writing activity

Here is another fun handout for writing practice perfect for elementary level and up, that means B1-B2, early advanced students who would like to challenge themselves. This handout I created for my student has a beautiful blue summer layout where students can even put their photos on as well. It's short and simple. It requires both listing things but also paragraph writing about their favourite summer day. Enjoy!

5. Opinion writing

In this simple handout asks for students opinion about the best season of the year. It asks for a short paragraphs with three opinion elements and critical thinking. It's suitable for advanced students, that means C1-C2. This handout is easily done by advanced students that just need guidance to write an essay. Enjoy!

And here you have it! Five free handouts curated for all English levels. Not only are these activities a great way to keep practicing, but they also provide an opportunity to improve and build upon existing skills. With the freedom of summer, learners can set their own pace and focus on areas they want to improve.

Other ways to practice

But let's not forget about the fun! Summer is all about enjoying life and trying new things. Learning English can be a fun and exciting adventure, and there are so many ways to incorporate it into your summer plans. Try watching English-language movies or TV shows, listening to English music, or reading English books.

You could also take advantage of the many free online resources available to English learners, such as podcasts, blogs, and language learning apps. And don't forget to practice speaking with native English speakers or language exchange partners. If you liked this post don't forget to register in my email list so you never miss another new post or free resources from me.

So, whether you're at the beach, on a road trip, or simply enjoying some downtime at home, make sure to keep practicing and improving your English skills this summer. And don't forget to have fun! Until the next time. Have a great summer! Toodaloo!
