Hello! I’m Miss Marilena 🤍

I’ve been teaching English for years. I believe in teaching with kindness, confidence, and joy. I want to share something with you that you might find surprising. When I was a child, English scared me. I almost hated it! Why? Because I had started learning the language later than my classmates, and they were already ahead.

To keep up with my friends, I ended up in the wrong class. I struggled to understand anything and started believing, “I’m just not good at languages.” I even dreaded English lessons. Many times, I pretended to be sick just to skip class, and I constantly felt ashamed for not understanding anything.

Fortunately, everything changed when my mom made a bold decision: she moved me two levels down, to the basics, with students who were two years younger than me. You can imagine the embarrassment I felt. But after one or two lessons, I realized I had finally found the class where I truly belonged. There, I met the teacher who changed my life — Mrs. Maria — who taught with kindness, not fear. She was the teacher who helped me learn to love English and the joy of learning.

In Mrs. Maria’s class:

• We played games.

• We laughed together.

• Every mistake was an opportunity to learn, and there was never any reason to be afraid.

Without realizing it, English became my favorite subject!

Years later, after studying, traveling, living abroad, and continuing to improve my English, I became a teacher. Not because English came easily to me — but because I knew what it feels like for a child to reach the point where they almost “hate” a language.

Today, I teach with my heart.

I see my students first as children and people, not just grades. Confidence comes first — and then language learning truly happens. My goal is simple: to be the teacher I had, the one who made me love English!
